Front Pages of The World
  1.  What is your favorite newspaper front page? Why? 
  2. What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it? 
  3. How many stories are on the front page of your favorite? 
  4. What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.
  5. What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.

Lenses and Photography Vocabulary


I would use a telephoto lens to? To normalize the size and distance difference between near and far objects, can make the depth of field appear more shallow.

I would use a prime lens to? To get higher quality images.

I would use a wide-angle lens to? To exaggerating depth and relative size in a photo.

We also need to add more words to your vocabulary -


Define each term below in your blog entry. Also write a sentence that explains how it relates to taking better photos.


Depth of Field (shallow and wide) - Depth of field is a characteristic of a camera that can be used to enhance the image composition of the photo. Depth of field means the sharp area surrounding the point of focus to take better photos.
Light (angle and intensity) - measures of light are commonly known as intensity. These are obtained by dividing either a power or a luminux flux by a solid angle, a planar area or a combination of the two
Shadows Diffusion - Diffused light comes from a relatively large light source, such as window light or light reflecting off of a wall. Diffused light creates soft edges between shadows and highlights. It softens textures, lines, and contours.
Exposure - The state of being exposed to contact with something.Using these features allows you to take successive pictures while gradually changing the amount of exposure compensation.
Aperture (f-stop) - is the diaphragm in your camera that widens and narrows to determine depth of field.The higher the f-number, the larger your depth of field.
Shutter speed - In photography, shutter speed is a common term used to discuss exposure time, the effective length of time a camera's shutter is open.
ISO - ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor.

Jury selection started Monday in the capital murder trial of Willie Jenkins, who police say sexually assaulted, strangled and drowned a San Marcos woman in 1975. Sheryl Ann Norris, 20, was found dead at her apartment on Aquarena Springs Drive.

Anonymous bomb threat at UT under investigation.

There will be increased police presence on the University of Texas campus over the next few days after officials said a bomb threat was reported Wednesday morning. Officials said they did not believe the threat was credible and that the campus remains open and that no activities had been canceled.

One person, a 19-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, died, according to police. Another person with a gunshot wound to the head was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Georgetown council votes to sell grocery store for $3.55 million.

Earlier: The Georgetown City Council will consider at the Tuesday night meeting whether to sell a former Albertsons grocery store for $3.55 million. MF Trinity Management has submitted the bid which the city has until April 16 to respond to, according to city documents.

Pauly found 19-month-old Jack in the driveway, badly injured. She had backed over her son.
